The Night Henry surpassed Babe Ruth to become the all-time career homerun king.

Six years ago today Barry Bonds surpassed Henry Aaron on the all-time career homerun list when he surpassed Aaron’s 755 mark with his 756 career homerun.  When Henry Aaron surpassed Babe Ruth to take the record himself in April 1974 he went through hell trying to break the iconic Ruth’s record who many considered a god at the time nearly 40 years ago.  Racism and hate surrounded Aaron when he earned the record and his accomplishments through what he went through were extraordinary and remarkable.  Aaron is a dignified man and the way he broke his record man him a great figure to have the honor of being baseball’s all-time career homerun King.  But with the advent of the steroids era Barry Bonds went into beast mode and eventually surpassed Aaron’ record on April 7th 2013.

At the time there was a lot of controversy surrounding Bonds chasing Aaron’s record and I was on the Major League Baseball seen in 2007 talking with black ball players all over the league about Barry Bonds and Aaron and I also spoke with two former Aaron teammates who later became black MLB managers (Which we do not see often) Dusty Baker and Cito Gaston who is the only African-American manager to win a World Series. The greatest Player in Atlanta Braves history.
