When Mookie Wilson played in the Major Leagues there were several African-American ball players throughout Major League rosters.

Since Alfonso Soriano won most valuable player honors in Major League baseball’s Futures game in 1999 in Boston’s Fenway park during all-star Sunday the event has been a part of the all-star festivities.  This year the all-star game was at city field and the Futures game was at Citi Field where former longtime New york Met Mookie Wilson managed the team comprised of American ball players.  Today in 2013 only 8% of the Major Leagues is filled with African-American players.  The United States futures team had seven African-American players.  We spoke with them and manager Mookie Wilson..
